Course description

Since 2012, The class of Harpsichord and Historical keyboards, active for more than twenty years, has produced relevant events. There is no age limit for admission to the courses: First-level Academic Diploma (Bachelor’s degree, three years) and Second-level Academic Diploma (Master’s degree, two years).

The main subjects of the study plan are:

· Harpsichord, performance practice

· Basso Continuo, theory and practice with instruments

· Ensemble music for ancient instruments

· Tunings and temperaments

· Consultation and Management

The course offers annual Masterclasses by renowned musicians and teachers such as Elina Mustonen (Academia Sibelius, Uniarts Helsinki), Terence Charlston (Royal College of Music, London), Joerg-Andreas Boetticher (Schola Cantorum Basiliensis).
The students also participate in Masterclasses at important Summer academies and have already had the opportunity to hold important concerts for many festivals and associations in Italy and Europe, including countries such as Finland, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, France. They were awarded with two First absolute prizes at the International Harpsichord Competition “Wanda Landowska”, as well as with a Third prize and with a Second ex-aequo prize. Our students are also regularly involved in the ERASMUS+ project, spending semesters of study at important institutions such as ESMAE of Porto and the Conservatories of Bruxelles, Lyon, and Madrid. In addition two of them have been accepted at the prestigious Master’s degree of the Royal Conservatoire The Hague, Holland.
