Course description:

The degree course in Agricultural Sciences and Technologies aims to train a professional figure characterised more by flexibility – in order to meet the needs of the labour market – than specialization.

After having acquired adequate competence levels in foundation subjects (maths, chemistry, physics and biology), students will confront themselves with the fundamental knowledge characterising their professional profile pertaining to economic-estimative disciplines, plants production and protection, livestock breeding, engineering, and soil fertility.

Graduates in agricultural sciences and technologies are also able to use at least one European Union language (English) besides Italian and possess adequate knowledge of the use of information and communication technologies.

Upon enrolment, each student is assigned a tutor belonging to the teaching staff who they can contact, throughout the training course, for organizational and cultural guidance.

PROFESSIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates in Agricultural Sciences and Technologies will be able to carry out professional activities in the agricultural and food sectors, in both the public and private sectors. Graduates may sit the state examination required to register in section B of the Professional Register of Agronomists and Foresters, junior agronomists.

The course prepares for the following careers:

  • Environmental control technicians
  • Agricultural technicians
  • Zootechnics

Other job opportunities include:

  • performing technical and managerial duties for agricultural businesses, companies, producing materials, machines and plants for agriculture, and for companies for the processing and/or distribution of agricultural products;
  • free-lance profession (collaboration in planning, consultancy, assistance, etc.) focusing on the production aspects, the management of projects, the valuation of goods, plants, technical means and products relating to the agricultural sector;
  • performing technical and management functions in activities related to the protection and sustainable development of the environment;
  • performing technical roles in public institutions (ministries, regions, research bodies, agricultural development bodies, land reclamation consortia, etc.), and for private individuals and businesses;
  • work for international public institutions that are interested in aspects of agricultural development (FAO, UN, EU, etc.);
  • continuing their training by enrolling in the Master’s Degree Courses in Agricultural Science and Technology or in Agricultural Biotechnology.
